Nutritional therapy is a complementary approach that works alongside your medical care, not instead of it. This page explains what that means in practice.

Our role

Ruth Trimbitas is a Registered Nutritional Therapist, MNNA, providing personalised naturopathic nutritional therapy and nutrigenomics consultations. Nutritional therapy is a complementary approach that considers diet, lifestyle and individual biochemistry to support health and wellbeing.

The information, guidance and recommendations provided through RLT Nutrition are for educational and informational purposes as part of your personalised programme. They are not intended to, and do not, constitute medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

Not a substitute for medical care

Nutritional therapy does not replace, and does not exclude, conventional medical care. Ruth does not make a medical diagnosis. Within the scope of her training she may make an assessment based on the information you provide, but this is not a substitute for diagnosis by a doctor or another qualified medical professional.

Ruth will never claim that nutritional therapy can ‘cure’ a condition, and recovery or specific outcomes are never guaranteed. Nutritional therapy support is offered alongside, not instead of, any medical care you are receiving. Recommendations will never countermand instructions or prescriptions given by your GP or another physician, and you should not stop, start or change any prescribed medication or medical treatment without speaking to them first.

You should always consult your GP or another appropriate healthcare provider:

  • before making significant changes to your diet, supplement intake or lifestyle, particularly if you have an existing medical condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are taking prescribed medication
  • if you have, or suspect you may have, a medical condition that requires diagnosis or treatment
  • if you experience symptoms that are severe, persistent or worsening, or any symptoms that would usually warrant urgent medical attention (such as unexplained bleeding, persistent pain, sudden or unexplained changes in your health, or difficulty breathing or swallowing)

Where relevant and with your consent, we are happy to liaise with your GP or other healthcare professionals, or to provide information you can share with them.

Individual results vary

Any outcomes, improvements or results referenced on this website, in testimonials, or during consultations reflect individual experiences. As above, recovery or specific results are never guaranteed. Everybody responds differently to dietary and lifestyle changes, and factors such as underlying health conditions, genetics and adherence to recommendations will all affect individual outcomes. Past client experiences are not a reliable indicator of the results any other individual may achieve.

Genetic and laboratory testing

Where nutrigenomic, genetic or other laboratory testing is offered as part of your programme, results are used to inform personalised dietary and lifestyle recommendations. These tests are not diagnostic medical tests, and any significant or unexpected findings should be discussed with your GP.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for providing accurate and complete information about your health, medical history, and any conditions or medications relevant to your consultation, and for seeking appropriate medical advice alongside any nutritional therapy support you receive from us.
